Group BeginningsThe duo began making demo tracks in 1987 at the Lycée secondary school in Paris. De Homem-Christo and Bangalter got the name Daft Punk after a reviewer called their music "a dafty punky thrash". Daft Punk released their first record with Virgin Records in 1997 named Homework. This album became very popular and jumpstarted their success. Their first popular single was from that album titled Around The World.
Their next album, titled Discovery, was received even better than their first album. Released in 2001, it hit big in the UK and US with Face To Face reaching number one in the US and Digital Love and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger hitting it big in Europe. 2003 saw the release of the film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. It was produced by Daft Punk and supervised by Leiji Matsumoto. All of the audio from the movie was music from Discovery. |
2004-2008:Their next album was released in 2005 titled Human After All In May of 2006, Daft Punk's first directed film, Daft Punk's Electroma, at the Cannes Film Festival. Daft Punk released its second live album titled Alive 2007 on 19 November 2007.

2008-2011: Tron Legacy
At the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that the duo composed 24 tracks for the film Tron: Legacy. The members made a cameo as disc jockey programs in the film. The film was released in December 2010.
